Not sure what thyroxin does but hormones do have a huge effect on blood sugar levels.
Insulin causes them to drop. Diabetics aren't producing enough so they get high blood sugar levels which isn't good....
Adrenaline causes the liver and muscles to release glucose into the bloodstream thereby raising blood sugar levels, which is annoying for diabetics...... :P
There are probably other hormones which can mess with blood sugar levels.
