6.6 mmol/L is 119 mg/dL (some of the answers have been in International Units (the 6.6) and some have referenced units unique to the US (the 119). I assume that if you are checking you glucose that you are a diabetic. A non-diabetic's fasting glucose should be 3.9 to 5.6 mmol/L or 70 to 100 mg/dL. A non-diabetic's post-prandial (after meal) glucose is up to 7.8 mmol/L or 140 mg/dL. The goal for a diabetic is to try to get as close to the non-diabetics numbers as possible without too many episodes of hypoglycemia. Taken in this context if the reading is a fasting glucose it is higher than the 'goal' BUT no single glucose reading should be relied upon. A series of readings is needed to suggest a change in the medical regimen. If this was a post-prandial reading then it is quite good. If you have additional questions or if you need additional information please email me at johnerussomd@jhu.edu. I wish you the very best of health and may God bless.
